  • City/Town Hall: 13-minute train ride from Copenhagen Airport.
  • Wedding Days: Available daily, except Tuesdays and Sundays.
  • Witnesses: Provided, including Saturdays.
  • Waiting Time: 8-9 weeks (longer for Saturdays).
  • Document Presentation: Originals are required one business day prior; same-day presentation is possible if necessary.
  • Pros: The convenient location makes it a top choice for couples.
  • Cons: High popularity means dates fill up quickly, often several weeks in advance.

ÆRØ

  • Location: Perfect for a quick, cosy wedding on Aeroe Island.
  • City/Town Hall: 3.5 hours from Copenhagen by train & ferry, or 2.4 hours from the German border by car & ferry.
  • Wedding Days: Tuesdays to Fridays, and the first Saturday of each month.
  • Witnesses: Provided every day.
  • Document Presentation: Passports/permits required one business day prior.
  • Pros: Stunning island location.
  • Cons: Travel time and quiet in winter.

Stevns

  • Location: Ideal for couples seeking a quick wedding with same-day document presentation.
  • City/Town Hall: Just under a 2-hour train ride or 1 hour by car from Copenhagen city center.
  • Wedding Days: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and the first Saturday of each month.
  • Witnesses: Available only on Thursdays and the first Saturday of the month.
  • Document Presentation: Immediately prior to the ceremony or one working day before.
  • Pros: Same-day document presentation is perfect for couples with time or cost constraints.
  • Cons: Witnesses are not provided every day.

Aabenraa

  • Location: Ideal for couples traveling from Germany, with easy access and a beautiful setting.
  • City/Town Hall: 25 minutes drive from the German border and 2 hours from Hamburg Airport.
  • Wedding Days: Monday to Friday.
  • Witnesses:
    • Provided from Monday to Thursday mornings (10 AM – 12 PM)
    • Bring your own witnesses after 12 PM and on Fridays.
  • Document Presentation: Passports and residence permits/visas must be presented on the morning of your wedding.
  • Pros: Convenient for couples traveling from Germany and same-day document presentation.
  • Cons: High demand, and availability changes daily.

Kolding / Christiansfeld

  • Locations: Two beautiful wedding venues—Kolding Town Hall in the city and Søstrehuset in the historic town of Christiansfeld.
  • City/Town Halls: Kolding Town Hall is just over a 1-hour drive from the German border. Søstrehuset is about 17 km from Kolding, also 1 hour from the German border.
  • Wedding Days:
    • Kolding Town Hall: Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays (subject to availability).
    • Søstrehuset: Available every day, including Sundays, if the register is available.
  • Witnesses:
    • Kolding Town Hall: Provided on Mondays and Fridays; couples must bring their own witnesses on Saturdays.
    • Søstrehuset: Witnesses are provided daily.
  • Document Presentation: Same day (Mo-Fri) or 1 business day prior for Saturday weddings.
  • Pros:
    • Convenient for couples traveling from Germany.
    • Two venue options: Kolding Town Hall and Søstrehuset in Christiansfeld.
    • Søstrehuset offers a unique museum setting in a UNESCO World Heritage town.
  • Cons: High demand; availability can change rapidly.

Sønderborg

  • Locations: Two wedding venues—Det Gamle Rådhus and Hotel Nørredhus, located outside the town center.
  • City/Town Halls: Just under a 40-minute drive from the German border.
  • Wedding Days: Fridays only, with location determined by odd or even calendar weeks.
  • Witnesses: Provided by the town hall; you can also bring your own if preferred.
  • Document Presentation: One working day prior to your ceremony.
  • Pros: Very close to Germany, convenient for couples traveling from there.
  • Cons: Only available on Fridays, leading to higher demand.

Roskilde

  • Locations: Two beautiful wedding venues – City Hall (Rådhuset) and Old City Hall (Gammel Rådhus) in central Roskilde.
  • City/Town Halls:
    • A 30-minute drive from Copenhagen.
  • Wedding Days:
    • City Hall: Thursdays and Fridays.
    • Old City Hall: Saturdays.
  • Witnesses:
    • City Hall (Thursday/Friday): Witnesses provided.
    • Old City Hall (Saturday): You should bring your own witnesses.
  • Document Presentation: Same day or up to 10 minutes before the ceremony.
  • Pros: Choose between the modern and sleek City Hall or the charming, historical Old City Hall.
  • Cons: Limited availability on select days.

Ribe / Esbjerg

  • Location: Ribe offers a historic, charming setting for a wedding in one of Denmark’s oldest towns. Ribe is part of Esbjerg Municipality.
  • City/Town Hall: About 1.5 hours from the German border and 3 hours from Copenhagen.
  • Wedding Days: Weddings are held on Thursdays only from January 2024.
  • Witnesses: Provided by the town hall.
  • Document Presentation: 20 minutes before the ceremony, or the day before if held by an outside official person.
  • Pros: Scenic, historic town.
  • Cons: Limited to Thursdays, with potential delays during busy periods.

Tønder

  • Location: a charming town with cobblestone streets.
  • City/Town Hall: 5 km from the German-Danish border, 50 km from Flensburg, 200 km from Hamburg.
  • Wedding Days: Tuesdays (without witnesses) and Thursdays (with your own witnesses).
  • Witnesses: Provided on Tuesdays, or you should bring your own on Thursdays.
  • Document Presentation: Same day or the day before if outside the official location.
  • Pros: Scenic town and close to Germany.
  • Cons: Limited to Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Aarhus

  • Location: Denmark’s 2nd largest city, rich in culture and charm.
  • City/Town Hall: Easy access from Copenhagen (3 hours) and Germany.
  • Wedding Days: Thursday, Friday (ceremonies on Friday in Danish, interpreter required), and Saturday.
  • Witnesses:
    • Provided on Thursdays & Fridays.
    • Bring your own on Saturdays.
  • Document Presentation: 10 minutes before the ceremony.
  • Pros:
    • Beautiful, architectural town hall.
    • Rich in culture and history.
  • Cons: Friday ceremonies in Danish (interpreter needed if you don’t speak Danish).

Dragør

  • Location: Small town with charming architecture.
  • City/Town Hall: Close to Copenhagen airport (6km).
  • Wedding Days: Thursday for international couples and Saturday for Danish couples only.
  • Witnesses: Provided by Town Hall.
  • Document Presentation: 10-15 minutes before the ceremony
  • Pros: Charming town and close to the Airport.
  • Cons: Limited to Thursdays for international couples.

Helsingør

  • Location: Beautiful coastal city with a rich maritime history.
  • City/Town Hall:
    • A 45-minute drive from Copenhagen.
    • Gorgeous building with stained glass windows and chandeliers.
  • Wedding Days: Tuesday and Thursday to Saturday.
  • Witnesses:
    • Provided by Townhall.
    • Bring your own on Saturdays.
  • Document Presentation: 10 minutes before the ceremony.
  • Pros:
    • Close to Copenhagen.

Odense

  • Location: Located in the center of Denmark, a vibrant city full of culture and history.
  • City/Town Hall:
    • 1 hour by train from Copenhagen.
    • 2 hours from the German border via train.
  • Wedding Days: Monday to Saturday, generally from 9 am to noon.
  • Witnesses: Provided by Town Hall.
  • Document Presentation: 10 minutes before the ceremony.
  • Pros:
    • The town hall offers flexible wedding days.
    • A vibrant city with lots to offer.
  • Cons: Limited to daytime weddings (9 am to noon).

Ringkøbing-Skjern

  • Location: Historic town on the western coast of Jutland, next to the Ringkøbing Fjord.
  • City/Town Hall:
    • 2+ hours by car from Süderlügum, Germany.
  • Wedding Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Witnesses: Provided by Townhall.
  • Document Presentation: Must be submitted at least one working day before the ceremony or a couple of days before.
  • Pros:
    • Close to the German border, making it easily accessible.
    • Ideal for couples looking for a quiet, intimate setting.
  • Cons:
    • Limited Wedding Days.
    • Long Travel Time from Copenhagen (around 4 hours).

Frederiksberg

  • Location: Beautiful palace with guided tours.
  • City/Town Hall:
    • A suburb of Copenhagen, 15 minutes from the city center.
    • 15 minutes by car from Copenhagen.
  • Wedding Days: One Saturday each month (excluding July).
  • Witnesses: Must bring at least one witness.
  • Document Presentation: 1 working day before the ceremony
  • Pros:
    • Beautiful town hall with murals and timeless architecture.
    • Easy to access from Copenhagen or the airport.
  • Cons: Only one Saturday per month (excluding July) for international weddings.
